There is a need to go learn and implement Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). It has a specific advantage in academics over buying the proprietary stuff at high cost for its customization value. FOSS is easily accessible and customizable subject to your creativity, involvement and expertise. World-class experts are approachable for guidance. It’s at negligible cost and creates confidence for entrepreneurship. Open source is collective power in action. The power of a worldwide community of highly skilled experts that build, share and improve the very latest software together - then make it available to everyone. The open-source community is thriving and today boasts some of the best brains in the business. The aim has not changed: free systems and software should be available to everybody, wherever they are. IEDC MES AIMAT conducted two day workshop on Free and Open Source Softtware on June 22nd and 23rd 2018 for MCA Students.

MES-AIMAT conducted its Annual Arts cum College Day “KALAARAV” on 5 th April 2018.
The chief Guest for the day was Mr. Irshad, Cine Actor.
The completions were held in two stages. Off stage events were conducted from 2 nd April 2019 to
4 th April 2018 which included a variety of competitions like essay writing, poem writing,
mehendi designing, pencil sketch etc.
On stage events were conducted on 5 th April 2018, Thursday. The art extravaganza exploded
with riots of events and activities by organizing completion under various categories i8nclusing
dance, music, theme show, food & more.
All the students actively participated in this colorful and zestful arts fest. The festivals like these
make us feel that art heaven exist and it is going to stay at the institution
Application for KMAT Entrance Examination for admission to MBA programmes in the state of Kerala can be submitted only through online via the website https://kmatkerala.in/. Applications are invited online from 09.03.2018 5PM till 07.06.2018 5PM. The date of examination is 24.06.2018.
MES-AIMAT conducted its Annual Sports Meet KHELOLTSAV on 15th March, 2018, Thursday. The Chief Guest for the programme was Ms Aneesha Siddique, Forest Range Officer. The programme began with the march past by students of both the houses Falcon (Blue) and Phoenix (Red) houses, followed by flag hoisting by the chief guest. Later, the Olympic torch was lighted by Mr. Haneefa K.G., HOD, Dept of Physical Education, MES College, Marampally along with the chief guest. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. P.A. Habeeb Rahiman, Director, MES-AIMAT and inaugural address was delivered by Ms. Aneesha Siddique, chief guest and formally inaugurated the programme by declaring the meet open. The oath for the sports meet was taken by students narrated by Mr. Amal, General Sports Captain. Lot of events were conducted like 100mtr, 200mtr , 400 mtr race, relay, long jump, high jump etc. Students of both the houses participated actively with both competitive spirit keeping the sportsman spirit and made the programme a huge success.
IEDC MES AIMAT in association with Kerala Startup Mission conducted two day workshop titled AR-VR, The first Step (Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality) on March 12th and 13th 2018. Around thirty students from various colleges participated in the workshop. The trainers were from Blue Drop Technologies they lead the workshop. Virtual reality (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer-simulated reality, replicates an environment that simulates a physical presence in places in the real world or an imagined world, allowing the user to interact in that world. On Day one, they covered virtual reality techniques for creating a virtual World. They intruded Unity Software, the open source tool for creating the VR. Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. On day two the concepts of AR were covered.
Ideation workshops have become a fundamental step to find new ideas and meet the significant innovation requirements for the startups. Ideation workshops that can sharpen people’s creativity and come to new ideas and innovative strategy. Kerala Start-up mission in association with IEDC MES AIMAT conducted, two day Ideation workshop as a part of the Idea Fest during the first week of April 2018, aimed at promoting the culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship among the youth of the State. Based on the location, all the colleges are assigned different venues for the workshop. Three participants from each college (1 nodal officer and 2 student coordinators) attended the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to motivate to sharpen the ideas from the campus. Mr. Pradeep Knowledge officer from ICT Academy lead the sessions. The participants were divided in to working groups whose objective is to bring new ideas and solutions that go in accordance with the business strategy of the startups.
Kerala Startup Mission in association with IEDC MES AIMAT is organized design thinking workshop for the nodal officers and the faculty members on Feb 12th and 13th for IEDC Nodal officers of Ernakulum, Alappuzha and Thrissur.. This Workshop is useful for faculties from Polytechnic and Arts & Science Colleges also. Total number of seats is limited to 30. The registration fees for the workshop is 2000/- per head. Mr. Sony John Bronzon, CPLP, Master Facilitator – Head Training and Organizational Development Allone Training and Development lead the sessions. Twenty Six IEDC Nodal officers/ Faculties from 20 different Colleges participated in the event. Dr. P A Habeeb Rahiman, Director MES AIMAT welcomed the gathering, this workshop helped the participants to develop practical and innovative solutions and also gave insights to the Design Engineering paper included in the syllabus of KTU.

MES-AIMAT conducted Grand Finale of Minutiae 2k18 Intercollegiate State Level Quiz Competition for undergraduate students on 7th February 2018, Wednesday. The quiz competition was conducted at Two-Levels. The first level (Prelims) was conducted at more than 50+ colleges all over the Kerala. Around 65 selected teams out of 1000 teams of the prelims, participated for the Grand Finale.
The program started with semi-final prelims round, out of which 6 teams went ahead for the finale. Mar Thoma College for Women, Perumbavoor, won the quiz with the cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and St. Peter’s College, Kolenchery were Runner ups with cash Prize of Rs 5000. The programme ended with Valedictory session. Dr. P. A. Habeeb Rahiman addressed the gathering and honoured the winners with certificates and cash prize. Mr. Saheem Sadik, Student Co-ordinator, proposed the vote of thanks.
